APRIL Announcements
**Annual Meeting - Going Virtual!**
In the midst of these extraordinary times, we have been working hard to move our in-person meeting online so that you still have the opportunity to engage with our outstanding speakers. While we’re disappointed to miss seeing everyone in person, we’re so happy to be able to bring you all together virtually. We hope that seeing some familiar faces while exploring and learning together will bring some comfort in these challenging circumstances.
Workshops and invited talks will now be live-streamed using a video conferencing platform that allows for interactive chat and discussion between the speakers and attendees. Registration will include access to pre-recorded research presentations and data blitzes (i.e., submitted abstracts) that will be available on a private YouTube channel. Posters will also be available for viewing in PDF format accessible via Dropbox.
For more information please see this flyer. You can also register here. Please share widely with your networks, and stay safe and healthy!

Using IFS and Sex Therapy with Couples
Presenter: Gail Guttman
Date: Monday, May 4, 2020
Time: 7 to 8:30 PM
Imago therapy has taught therapists the importance of healing in relationship. Using Imago therapy in sex therapy can help couples heal the childhood wounds around their sexual self-esteem and beliefs with the goal of restoring sexual connection. However, in my experience, sometimes relational healing did not help my couples enough relationally and sexually. Several years ago, I started attending trainings in Internal Family Systems (IFS) for both individuals and couples and integrating IFS into couples and sex therapy.
In this seminar, there will be an overview of IFS, an internal healing method, used with individuals and couples. We will explore how IFS is useful in helping individuals be more healing within themselves and changing their couples’ destructive sexual patterns. There will be short time to practice a skill used in IFS, unblending, which can help clients reframe sexual messages & beliefs. AASECT CEU’s of 1.5 credits are available.

The Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certification Review Manual
by SSTAR Member Raymond Zakhari
This review manual prepares students to successfully pass the ANCC Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner board certification examination. It encompasses all of the essential knowledge required, uses a succinct outline format that highlights critical detail, and systematically follows the test blueprint so that those taking the exam will be optimally prepared.
The review manual begins with an overview of the certification examination, self-care, and test tips; the role of the psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner, scope of practice, and regulations; and the theoretical foundations of care. Other topics examined include the neuroanatomy and physiology of mental illness; psychopharmacology; physical assessment, diagnostic tests, and differential diagnosis. A wide range of psychiatric disorders, as organized in the DSM-5, are also reviewed. Each of the chapters include learning objectives, and easy-to-read outline format, and end-of-chapter review questions. The review manual concludes with a 150-question practice test.
