Sex Therapy Collaborative presents: Cancer, Sexuality, and Relationships

Stephanie Buehler, MPW, PsyD, CST-S, IF
Thursday, December 9th, 2021, 7:00pm-9:00pm EST.
This course will be held virtually via Zoom.
2 AASECT and NYS CE Credits Available.

In this course, Dr. Stephanie Buehler will discuss how to understand and treat sexual problems that arise from the late effects of cancer, including for sexual/gender minorities. While any cancer diagnosis can create change in a couple’s intimate relationship, but those cancers that involve the reproductive organs generally have the most profound effect. Most cancer survivors complain about lack of sexual desire, but for men with urological cancer and women with breast or gynecological cancer, the direct impact on function can make navigating the “new normal” a special challenge. With stories from the trenches working with cancer survivors, as well as personal experience as the wife of a prostate cancer survivor, Dr. Buehler will share her approach to helping people understand and cope with sexual changes due to cancer.

**Seeking Research Participants**

We are recruiting participants over 18 years old for the International Sex Survey (ISS)!

Help us better understand which factors can contribute to problematic and non-problematic sexual behaviours and sexual well-being.

The research is:
- an online survey
- anonymous
- takes 25-30 minutes
You can participate if you are:
- 18 years old or over

About the ISS
The International Sex Survey (ISS) is a large, cross-cultural study that examines sexuality, including the positive (e.g., sexual satisfaction, sexual desire) and negative aspects of it (e.g., sexual risk-taking, sexual function problems) via an anonymous online survey. We will donate 50 cents (USD) to non-profit, sexuality-related international organizations (e.g., World Association for Sexual Health) for every completed survey, with a maximum of a 1000 USD donation. The ISS will be conducted with more than 40 participating countries. This way, we can compare the results across different cultures, and have a more comprehensive understanding of sexuality all over the world. Thus, your participation in the study will help with the success of our research.
