Hidden Secrets of Male Sexual Problems

Young males learn that sex is easy, totally predictable, in their control, and autonomous. The male-female double standard and perfect intercourse performance model sets him up for sexual dysfunction and avoidance with aging. Couples frequently stop being sexual because the male has lost confidence with erections and intercourse. This workshop will explore premature ejaculation, erectile dysfunction, ejaculatory inhibition, and low sexual desire.

Culture and Sexuality in Sex Therapy

This course will offer 6 NYS + 6 AASECT CE Units.
This workshop will offer sex therapists and counselors the opportunity to engage with topics of identity and power as they relate to providing care to clients. The day will be filled with media, engaging activities, small group work, and discussions. A focus on language, terminology, and oppression will guide the morning portion. The afternoon will focus on praxis and implementing language and understanding of various forms of oppression and paths to liberation. We will conclude with an overview of apologies and when it is necessary to apologize to clients, and each other.

AASECT Supervisor-in-Training (SIT) Certification – Supervision Group
6 – 120-minute sessions (12 hours total) – 12 CE hours
Oct 7, 21, 28; Nov 11, 25; Dec 2; 3 pm – 5 pm EDT
**Special Announcement from AASECT: Supervisors and Supervisees no longer need to apply to AASECT for approval to start supervision.
Supervision is held via web conferencing online and is designed to be accessible from anywhere. Supervision is an opportunity to work closely with Dr. Tammy Nelson, a Ph.D. Board Certified, Master Level, Expert therapist.
Qualified SIT’s will work toward finding two individual clients or couples to supervise. These clients can present with any issues that impact their sexual relationship, including desire, arousal and orgasm phase difficulties, medically related sexual dysfunctions, and relationship conflicts.
In order to be a Supervisor-in-Training for AASECT Sex Therapists, you must:
- Hold a valid license
- Be a Certified Sex Therapist for 3 years
- Have received a minimum of 30 hours of individual and group supervision (50% max group)
- Work with a minimum of 2 supervisees prior to certification (but not lead group)
- Provide 2 professional recommendations
- Evaluation by Supervisor for knowledge of: general field of sexuality, sex therapy, skill as a therapist in general and, specifically, as a sex therapist; capacity for serving in the role of supervisor; general ability to assume responsibilities; and ethical behavior.
Supervision will give you a chance to:
- Share your cases
- Hear ample feedback
- Receive interventions and direction from Tammy
- Receive input from the group
Each participant will have time to present cases, ask questions, and learn from other participants. Group discussion, experiential intervention, and optional homework may include reading material, videos, and other suggestions for the practice of hands-on skills. Maximum participation is encouraged. All experience and backgrounds are encouraged to participate, and all dynamics and approaches welcome.
